Sad Centurions.
   (Ver 1)

These pictures are of 3 Centurions that turned up in NSW Australia in July 2004, they were bought from the Australian Army for the sole purpose of being cut up for scrap. It seems the purchasers thought they were worth more for scrap than as restorable vehicles. I think the logistics and costs involved in cutting up the vehicles with a thermal lance has rendered the whole operation a failure. Scuttlebutt has it that they are available for $25,000.

The scrapping so far. Good view of the hull thickness on a Mk 5 Centurion.

The 3 vehicles, as you can see they are in varying states of completness. Not one of them is complete enough in its own right. It would take all 3 vehicles to provide enough parts to approach having a reasonably "together" vehicle.

This is the vehicle they started on. Basically the front has been severed using a thermal lance - makes quite a mess. You can see the gearstick.

The ammo bin next to the driver from an angle you don't normally see.

Lots of .30 cal links and one lonely .50 cal link.

My thanks to Matt for supplying the pictures.
